MUDAVADI HELD HOSTAGE BY STATE HOUSE OVER PAST SCANDALS

It is now emerging clearly why Deputy PM Musalia Mudavadi made that miscalculated political move to quit the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for State House fronted UDF political party. The people behind the move were Mary Wambui Mwai and Prof. Nick Wanjohi. Impeccable sources close Musalia’s press secretary Kibisu Kabatesi say that the Sabatia MP has so far been financed to the tune of Ksh400 million to weaken ODM’s popularity in Western Province with a promise that Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto would throw their weight behind him for the 2013 presidential elections. That is one of the reasons why Mudavadi is camping in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties this weekend for a series of political rallies. “The Kikuyu and Kalenjin will vote for us and there is plenty of money on offer for us,” Mr Kabatesi boosted to a senior journalist from Western who did not wish to have his name disclosed. This thinking will not work because Uhuru and Ruto both insist that they have to run as presidents. It turns out that Musalia is being misled once again, just like in 2002 by Mary Wambui Mwai and Nick Wanjohi. The two have roped in former nominated MP Mark Too (Bwana dawa). A while ago at “consultative” meetings convened by Mudavadi at his Mululu home in Vihiga and at Masinde Muliro University hall in Kakamega where he met local leaders, “Mark Too was all over the place acting like the master of ceremonies and event organizer at both meetings. But I felt something was fishy when Mark Too called upon Eugene Wamalwa to put his presidential ambitions on hold and give Mudavadi the chance to lead the Luhya people to State House,” a civic leader from Emuhaya who attended both meetings said. Indeed, journalists who have been covering Mudavadi’s functions have also noticed that the Deputy PM’s security has been beefed with sources saying that Mudavdi’s extra “political” security is being coordinated by a former Presidential Escort Commander while his political strategy is being handled by a former chief of intelligence in the KANU regime. The extra security was put in place after Mudavadi’s expressed fears to State house that there could be a violent backlash against him similar to that visited upon him 2002 when he “betrayed” the Luhya people by withdrawing from the then formidable Rainbow Alliance to become Uhuru’s running mate. It has also emerged that Mudavadi has been threatened with prosecution over the cemetery land scandal if he does not play ball in the destruction of ODM. “The truth of the matter is that former Attorney General Amos Wako had protected Mudavadi from prosecution over the cemetery land scandal that rocked the Nairobi City Council after a former director of legal affairs at the Council gave damning incriminating evidence that shows how the Local Government minister pocketed part of the loot through a proxy. But when Wako left office, powerful forces in government have asked officers at State Law Office to go after Mudavadi if he does not play ball in destroying ODM,” a source close to Mudavadi’s press secretary Kibisu Kabatesi said. Some of Mudavadi’s close family members are also said to be very unhappy with what they call “his stupid” political move to ditch ODM. A stepbrother of Mudavdi’s is said to have confronted him after he learned about the Sh400 million from State house, to which Mudavadi replied that; “They are just paying back my old debt.”
