RICHARD NGATIA’S MEGASCOPE ENJOYS A STRING OF ENDLESS SCANDALS AT THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH

Mr Richard Ngatia President (KNCCI)

Journalist Dennis Okari of NTV last night made an expose of how at least three-quarters of the COVID-19 equipment donated by Chinese billionaire Jack Ma, a donation made to the people of Kenya, found its way to Tanzania courtesy of Megascope Limited a company associated with Mr Richard Ngatia currently President of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI)

Mr. Nagtia’s involvement in such scandals is not new however, in April this year  a story was posted on a local website site (later deleted) how he was selling Jack Ma’s coronavirus equipment donations with the help of Kenyan government officials, people close to him dismissed the story, it has come to pass with Dennis Okari’s expose.
Mr. Ngatia was the man behind the Ksh. 8 billion scandal at the Ministry of Health for the supply of 37 CT scanners where the cost of each Scanner was inflated to Ksh 235 million each against the then prevailing market price of Ksh 75 million.

He even met all travel and accommodation cost extended to senior officials from the treasury, ministry of health and friendly journalists on a trip to a Chinese medical equipment  manufacture  Mindray Bio-Medical electronics Ltd based in Keja 12 road , Nanshan, Shenzhen, China,  where the equipment’s  were later sourced from, their job was to  sanitize  the  illegal deal, and they did.

Questions have now begun to emerge of how Mr Ngatia’s Megascope was awarded a deal to construct all the new hospitals under the Nairobi Metropolitan Services.   A project recently launched with a lot of fanfare by President Uhuru Kenyatta. The President witnessed the ground breaking for the construction of 16-bed capacity hospitals at Muthua in Uthiru and Kianda in Kibra as well as a 24-bed facility at Maendeleo Village in Mukuru kwa Reuben.
