Mount Elgon Parliamentary Candidate Kraido Majune has challenged voters in the constituency not to vote for leaders with a tainted past. He said it is only through electing leaders of unquestionable integrity that the electorates will realize quick development.
‘’ I wish to challenge
you, my brothers and sisters of the Mountain, to rise early on 9 August and
exercise their democratic rights. Vote out the corrupt to make Mt Elgon
Constituency great again’’, he said. He asked all communities to coexist
peacefully.
He spoke during a
campaign rally at Kaptama Market on Friday. He said he will partner with area
residents to deliver developments to the people of Mt Elgon. ‘’I will be
petitioning the national government through parliament to ensure locals who
have lived for decades without land title deeds get the document’’, he said.
Kraido said residents will be able to obtain loans through land titles to boost
their businesses and Agriculture.
He further said that his
administration will ensure that every student from humble background gets
access to bursaries to further their education without difficulties. Mr Kraido
further pledged to equip the boda boda sector, youths, women and widows to
become self-reliant. He also pledged to improve security and infrastructure.
He pledged to push for
an increase in NG- CDF allocation from the current 2. 5% of the national budget
to five per cent to help fund more development projects. The current allocation
comes to about Sh41 billion for the 290 constituencies, meaning each electoral
area gets around Sh137 million every financial year. ‘’Increasing the CDF
allocation would actualize rapid development ‘’, he said.
