Lawyer George Odinga Oraro (left) with his client Henry Kosgey (centre)at the ICC
A top Nairobi based lawyer George Odinga Oraro yesterday in The Hague performed incredibly well before the ICC judges in defense of his client, ODM chairman and suspended Minister Henry Kosgey. Lawyer George Oraro took a departure from the approach taken by his fellow lawyers, when he chose to adduce his own evidence instead of presenting witnesses before the Pre-Trial Chamber, in the ongoing confirmation of charges hearings at The Hague.
George Oraro is a founder and principal partner in charge of the Litigation and Commercial Department. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and he has been with the firm since its inception in 1977. He is a commercial lawyer with bias in drafting, negotiating single bank, syndicated loan agreements and multiple option facilities. His partner is Pamella Ager.
Mr Oraro rebutted claims by the prosecution that Mr Kosgey was part of the so-called network to eject Kikuyus, Kambas and Kisis from the Rift Valley to allow uniform voting in support of ODM, adding the KASS FM radio station which the ICC prosecutor is trying to link Mr. Kosgey to, had covered his client in a negative manner in the past, citing an instance where his supporters protested at some of the station’s news bulletins. Depending on how things end up at The Hague, lawyer Oraro’s star will surely keep on rising .
