Mr.Katwa Kigen’s performance as lawyer for radio journalist Joshua Sang has left many experts in law baffled. He just didn’t “coach” the four witnesses who appeared for Ruto and Sang, but many a times we didn’t know whether he was representing Sang or Ruto.His line of defense was around Ruto not Sang. The clips he played before the court bore the images of Hon. Ruto and not Sang and references for “the first suspect” were too frequent in his submissions to be ignored.
Whether he did justice for Sang is a moot point for now, but the truth is that, as it has been, the radio journalist, has come out as pawn in this game.It the same Kigen who while dismissing the veracity of the prosecution witnesses asked the chamber to ignore their evidence because they were “anonymous” but went ahead to claim that these “anonymous witnesses” were self confessed criminals.
How did he know that anonymous witnesses were self proclaimed criminals? Is this the line that Keter picks up and claims that “we know the traitors?”
Ok..ok.. how does this advance the cause of their case?
In any case, Ruto has never tired to tell all that it is Raila who authored the famous Waki list that eventually took him to The Hague.It is against this background that Keter made his inciting comments, which essentially were motivated by anger than a sober analysis of the situation.In many respects, the wheel has gone full circle for both Hon.Keter and Hon.Ruto. By accusing PNU, Raila and “some human rights NGOs” it means that Ruto is in no man’s land and that he will accuse any one for his misfortunes.
It is Ruto who retreated to PNU because Raila and ODM have “become dictatorial and did not allow for internal democracy”.Coincidentally, the so called victims who Chana represents are mainly from the Kikuyu community. They are the ones, through their lawyer Chana, are out to ensure that Ruto is firmly put on the chopping board.
One would have thought that his dalliances with Uhuru, the recent meetings of elders between the two communities would guarantee William Ruto respite from the community’s hate.
But as is usual, all such things are meant for the media. They are not real
