A section of the busy Thika road will be closed to traffic
this weekend

Motorists are in
for a heavy traffic snarl-up on Thika Road this weekend. The road will be
closed to traffic for installation of overpass concrete beams on the ongoing
construction of the Outer Ring overpass.
A statement issued by the Kenya Urban Roads
Authority (KURA) says the city bound expressway will be closed on Saturday 14th
and Sunday 15th September, 2019.
Motorists heading
to the City Centre will be required to use the service lanes as directed by
traffic marshals.
“Thika
Superhighway at Allsopps (Outer Ring Road Junction) will be closed on Saturday
14th and Sunday 15th September, 2019 in order to install beams on the ongoing
construction of the Outer Ring overpass,” reads the statement issued by KURA Acting
Director General Silas Kinoti.
A similar traffic
disruption is also set to be experienced next weekend as the remaining section
of the outbound expressway will be closed on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd,
September, 2019.The closure will commence from 6am until 6pm on both weekends
