Weston hotel, an establishment closely associated with deputy
president William Ruto has been singled out by both the Ethics and
Anti-corruption Commission and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
sleuths as center of interest with claims that it is here where individuals
seeking to bribe their way out of court cases, parliamentary probes, and police
investigations meet to close dirty deals.
Two members of an oversight committee of the National
Assembly have been overheard criticizing their colleagues whom they accused of
frequenting the hotel, especially during studies of books of accounts in
respect of certain state organizations. A few years back the hotel experienced
the most embarrassing episode when it was revealed that at least 27 doctors who
had been attending a conference there had suffered bouts of cholera soon after
the conference had come to a close.
