ALARMING CASES OF INSECURITY WORRY BUSIA COUNTY RESIDENTS

A few days ago, a teacher at Butunyi Primary School attacked a guard at the nearby Catholic Church run St Augustine boarding primary school, he beat him up mercilessly. The guard died the same evening from his injuries.

 Residents of Busia County now live in fear of armed thugs.

The spate of insecurity currently bedeviling Busia County needs a concerted effort from both the police and the public to tame. The many cases of insecurity in the County have steadily risen to dangerous levels with armed robbers having a field day, terrorize locals at will.

In the last one month alone, cases of robbery have been reported in the whole County. First was  an electronics dealer based at Bumala shopping Centre who brutally murdered, this led to the massacre of six private security guys also known as bouncers in a retaliatory mission gone awry.

A few days later, armed robbers took Muramba shopping center in Funyula by storm, shooting aimlessly at the locals, a number of people succumbed to their injuries while were left nursing serious injuries at the County hospital.

When the locals were still reeling from the shocking attacks, a middle aged woman was waylaid by thugs on her way back home from Funyula town in what looked like a setup, the Ksh.50 thousand that she had taken as a loan from her women group, was easily taken away by the thugs.

Then followed the Bukhulungu case in Nangina ward,Samia Sub County, where armed robbers attacked a home in the village then raped three girls before escaping with a number of electronic items.

In Bungeng'i a young man was attacked by thugs just in the same span of one month, he was robbed of his cash then brutally murdered, three of the thugs have since been arrested, one of them is still on the loose, it is believed that it is the same group that terrorized people in both Nambale and Samia Sub Counties.

The suspect is on the run as the Butula Sub County police station seems to be in no hurry to conduct any serious investigations.  The culprit is allegedly holed in Nairobi.

Yesterday was once again the worst day for Funyula residents as the husband to former Nairobi City Council Town clerk Zipporah Wandera was ruthlessly attacked at his home by unknown people who waylaid him at his gate before chopping him to death, the attack happened around midday.

Many county residents have strongly condemned the unfortunate happenings they believe that poor leadership is the cause of the sudden upsurge of insecurity they blame their MP of being too soft on insecurity matters and the Funyula security personnel for not taking their work seriously.

The County government under Hon.Sospeter Ojaamong and the County security agents are badly sleeping on the job. The governor and security agents have failed to address insecurity concerns of the people living them at their own mercy.
