Dr. Monica Juma
and Kamau Macharia were at loggerheads

Members of staff
at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are said to have burst into wild
celebrations marked by ululation within the corridors of the ministry soon after
President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the transfer of Dr. Monica Juma from the
ministry. President Uhuru Kenyatta made cabinet changes affecting a number of
Cabinet secretaries yesterday.
Dr. Monica Juma
was moved to the ministry of defense swapping places with Amb. Raychelle Omamo.
Raychelle has been at the ministry for 7 years. Dr. Monica Juma is married to
Mr. Peter Kagwanja a political analyst
and together they have two grown up children.
Reports from the
ministry say the cabinet secretary has been at loggerheads with a number of both
senior and junior members of staff who accuse her of being heartless being ever
since she was posted to head the docket. It must be remembered that there has
been a tug-of-war at the ministry where the former CS Monica Juma and Principal
Secretary Kamau Macharia were at loggerheads, a situation that had split staff
at the ministry into two camps.
Some staff went on
to say that the floor of the building that housed the office of the CS was classified
as a no-go-zone and the few who were allowed in would be subjected to a
thorough frisking. Her last major assignment
