The border County is experiencing a surge in the number of Covid-19 patients mostly among truck drivers who are headed to Uganda and beyond.
Busia County government under governor Sospeter Ojaamong is
on the spot yet again, this time round not from the long-suffering county
residents but long-distance transporters who have raised an alarm about the
deplorable conditions in the quarantine facilities.
The border County is experiencing a surge in the number of Covid-19 patients mostly among truck drivers who are headed to Uganda and
beyond.
Most of the Covid-19 positive cases that have been reported
in the county are of truck long-distance drivers who had been quarantined at
Alupe hospital under very deplorable conditions, they have been forced to live
in horrible conditions, dirty rooms with no running water, broken windows,
dirty linen and poorly prepared food. This has forced the Association to write
a protest letter to the County authorities as attached here.
