Notorious cartels with huge financial operations from the Ministry of Health led by one Mary Matu is said to have been the main target behind the call for full accountability of the Covid-19 funds on health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the call was made by Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua during a media briefing a few days ago and is reported to have rattled the group who have gone into hiding for fear of being prosecuted. The Narc-Kenya leader had demanded full accountability for of the funds currently running into billions of shillings and which have also attracted the attention of the new Auditor General.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe had promised to expose and weed out a few unscrupulous public officials within his ministry engaged in criminal dealings at the expense of public good together with their unscrupulous friends from outside the ministry masquerading as business people.

Mr Kagwe has in the past even expressed his astonishment after a number of employees at the ministry refused to be transferred to other departments with the full knowledge that they enjoy the protection of the powerful and equally wealthy vendors ready to protect them.
The CS said he found the behavior by the employees at Afya House surprising. He had transferred 30 officers from the ministry’s headquarters in what was viewed as a move against perceived cartels, adding that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) was investigating more cases and action will be taken against those found guilty
