Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has said that he is not forcing anybody to cast a vote for the Azimio la Umoja Presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga. Speaking in the Kanduyi constituency on Saturday during a funeral, Wangamati said that Azimio la Umoja one Kenya has traversed the entire country and decided that it’s ‘Baba’. Mr Wangamati said that he is satisfied with the campaigns that Raila Odinga has done.
The
Governor’s comment comes barely two days after Mr Odinga accused Bungoma
residents of backing Kenya Kwanza flag bearer William Ruto. Mr Wangamati added
that Odinga has what it takes to lead the country as Head of State arguing that
Mr Odinga did much when he was the Prime Minister of Kenya.
“When
Raila was the PM of the Republic of Kenya, the western region benefited more,
we got many posts as Ministers,” Wangamati said, adding that Odinga has already
appointed Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Défense CS Eugene Wamalwa in
his executive cabinet. The county boss noted that the Azimio la Umoja manifesto
is very clear, especially in the western region where Raila has pledged to
revive Nzoia sugar, Malakisi ginnery and Mumia’s Sugar Company.
Governor
Wangamati trashed the Kenya Kwanza manifesto saying that their bottom-up
economic model won’t solve unemployment opportunities, a crisis that has hit
the country for many years adding that he has plans to start industries in
every Sub- County.
“The five
years I have been in office I have done much in the education sector and the
health sector. If given another chance I am going to start industries in every
Subcounty so that they can help solve unemployment,” he noted.
His
sentiments were echoed by DAP- K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi who asked
Bungoma electors to reject Senator Wetang’ula’s promises and re-elect Wangamati
praising him as a development-oriented leader. Wamunyinyi said that Bungoma
needs a Senator who will relate well with the governor so that developments can
be done in the county.
“Governor
Wangamati has tried his best to deliver as the county boss but his regime was
disturbed by opponents who took him to court to stop crucial plans to change
Bungoma,” he said, adding that it was pure politics.
Mr
Wamunyinyi who is the longest serving MP in western region said that he is
still seeking to be an MP so that he completes projects that he started.
