Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong, has defend his close relationship with Deputy President William  Ruto.  The governor was speaking in Nambale constituency early this week at the Nambale Vocational Training Centre where he had gone to launch some projects. He said that he was free to choose his friends just like any other person.
“UhuruKenyatta,Raila Odinga and William Ruto are my friends, i will choose my friends the way i want, nobody can choose for me friends, ‘he said.

His woes with his closest allies turned critics began early this year after he led a delegation of his Teso kin to the DP's Sugoi home, Busia County ODM party members came out breathing fire. They held a press conference that condemned the trip calling for disciplinary actions against the governor.
The governor was on the receiving end again recently when he was seen in Ruto's entourage that crisscrossed different parts of the County, his closest ally turned critic, Hon. Obongoya, a nominated MCA, asked the ODM disciplinary committee to take action against the governor, whom he accused of promoting the interests of another political party.

It is also believed that his hand was involved in DP Ruto's tour of Teso South where the DP had gone to open a chief's camp; pundits believe that he was relaying a political message.

In his speech at the event, Ojaamong told the gathering that it is only Ruto who understands the problems of the region, this statement has left so many people confused, it is only time that will tell but the governor seems to be  on his way out of ODM.
