Former Kerio
Valley Development Authority (KVDA) managing director David Kimosop and Kiambu
Governor Ferdinand Waititu were on Monday arraigned before courts both facing
corruption related charges. Mr. Kimosop was charged over the Sh63 billion
Kimwarer and Arror dams’ scandal.
He is among
nine suspects that had yet to be charged after last week's arrests of a number
of individuals. He joins more than 10 other suspects including former National
Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and his ex-Principal Secretary Kamau
Thugge.
Kiambu
Governor Ferdinand Waititu was on the other hand facing six counts over a
Sh580 million irregular tender.Mr Waititu
was charged alongside his wife Susan Ndung’u and six others at the Milimani Law
Courts following a recommendation by Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin
Haji.
Mr. Waititu
alongside 11 other suspects was charged with conflict of interest, dealing with
suspect property, abuse of office and willful failure to comply with the law
relating to procurement.
Mr. Kimosop
and other suspects are facing charges of abuse of office, willful failure to
comply with public procurement laws and procedures, conspiracy to defraud the
government of Kenya, engaging in the implementation of the project without
proper planning contrary to the law and unlawfully procuring the services of
Italian firm CMC di Ravenna other charges.
Former KDVA
boss Kimosop was arraigned alongside Fredrick Towett, Patrick Kipsang,
Elizabeth Kebenei, Nelson Korir, Isaack Kiiru, David Ongare, Titus Mureithi,
Jackson Kinyanjui and Boniface Mamboleo.
