Funyula member of parliament,Hon.Oundo Mudenyo,has urged locals to embrace cotton farming again,he was speaking at the burial of former Magadi Soda production manager, Mr.William Okumu Onyango at his Buduong'i home,Funyula Sub County.

The MP told mourners that he has already secured funds to revive the once obsolete local ginnery at Mulwanda, the facility has always been in the news but for all the wrong reasons, almost ksh.48m was pumped into the facility by the county government of Busia to revive it but the money was embezzled. He assured farmers of a ready market for their produce this is after the revival of Rivatex.

"Our only cash crop was cotton, let us go back to it, this time we have a ready market which is Rivatex, they have promised to improve the price of the product, "he said.

Hon.Mudenyo also told them that Rivatex has assured farmers to supply the with seeds and insecticides.

The same funeral was also attended by Bunyala Member of Parliament, Hon.Raphael Wanjala who talked about the coming Census exercise, he told the mourners that the exercise was too important; they should take it seriously and make sure they are counted.
