FIVE PRINTING COMPANIES’ MARGE IN ORDER TO REMAIN COMPETITIVE

CAK director-general Wang’ombe Kariuki

The Competition Authority of Kenya has given the nod for the merger of five printing firms to form one company called Print Exchange Limited (PEL).

The five are Kul Graphics, The Rodwell Press, Printfast Kenya, Digital Hub and Colourprint. They will now have some of their assets controlled by Print Exchange Limited (PEL).

As a result of the merger, printing business in the country is set to radically change. The new development means PEL will have major capacity to undertake major printing businesses that the government has been outsourcing to printing firms based out of the country. Such major business includes printing of national examination papers as well as ballot papers for elections.
