Nyeri Senator Ephraim Maina was once
quoted by a local media house complaining of how corruption was killing the
Kenyan economy, “Corruption or actual stealing is the greatest threat to the
survival of Kenya. It must be fought in all ways,” he said then.

The
Weekly Vision online has however learnt that the
senator is himself a beneficiary of the vice. Mr Maina is said to have
fraudulently acquired a building from the family of fellow Nyeri billionaire
and Kieni MP the late Munene Kairu. He conspired with crooked officials at the
ministry of lands and changed ownership documents of a building situated along Moktar Dadda street in Nairobi without the knowledge of the family, the
building currently houses Enkare Hotel.

Nyeri Senator Ephraim Maina |
The building was until March this year leased to a businessman who was running a hotel when the senator suddenly and without prior notice, kicked him out of the
building while the lease was still in force and later auctioned off his assets.
It all started off when the senator tried to hike monthly rent against the
lease agreement, the businessman objected, and he was kicked out.
Mr
Maina had planned to lease out the building to a new tenant who was willing to
pay triple the monthly amount the previous occupant was paying. Sources close
to the family of the late Kairu told The Weekly Vision online that the previous tenant
moved to court and obtained an injunction.
