The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation
(REREC) has contributed Sh2.3 million towards the COVID-19 Emergency Fund.
REREC is a Government Organization under the ministry of energy whose main mandate is spearheading Kenya’s green energy drive, in addition to implementing
rural electrification projects.

employee contributions.
Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i received the funds. The PAS
Office of the President, Kennedy Kihara was also in attendance. On March 30,
President Uhuru Kenyatta constituted a 10-member board to oversee the COVID-19
Emergency Response Fund, whose key mandate was to mobilise resources that will
be channelled towards containing the spread of coronavirus as well as
cushioning the effects and impact of the pandemic in the country. The Fund has
so far raised more than Sh1 billion.
