Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi suffered a huge political blow when 400 youths from East Sang’alo Ward endorsed his rival, Ford Kenya candidate John Makali for the Kanduyi seat. Speaking to The Weekly Vision on Tuesday, Mr Chris Wamalwa the youth leader in East Sang’alo ward said that former assembly speaker John Makali is the best place to replace current MP Wafula Wamunyinyi in the August 9th race praising Mr Makali for the recent support of Ksh. 50,000 to the Youngsters club.

“Today is a historic day in Kanduyi as youths have decided to back the Ford Kenya candidate John Makali to be the next Kanduyi MP,” Wamalwa said. Makali who is seeking to oust Wamunyinyi through Senator Moses Wetang’ula’s party said that if given an opportunity he will empower youths in Kanduyi.

“We have many talented youths here in Kanduyi and Bungoma at large. I will work with governor Lusaka to ensure that youths with talents are supported,” Makali said. He is also enjoying the support of over 35 MCAs and his party leader Moses Wetang’ula in Bungoma County.

“We shall ensure that Kanduyi constituency has a social hall that will help in nurturing talents,” Makali said. The youths from the ward also threw their weight behind the Kenya Kwanza gubernatorial aspirant Ken Lusaka adding that he is the only gubernatorial aspirant who has shown willingness to nurture talents.

Makali noted that if elected as the next MP he will ensure 30 percent of government contracts are specifically set aside for the youths. “I will set aside thirty per cent of the contracts for the youth because they are the majority in the constituency and they are the main pillars of peace and development,” Makali added.

Makali said that nurturing of talents in Bungoma county has been neglected by the current Wangamati administration adding that the county rarely supports teams to go for away matches. “We are disappointed with Mr Wangamati’s administration as far as sporting activities are concerned, we want a regime that will support youths and nurture their talents,” he said.
