POOR LEADERSHIP AT AFYA SACCO THREATENS TO CRIPPLE THE ORGANAISATION.

The principal issue that is expected to ignite fireworks at the AGM  is why  the top management led by its Chairman Vitalis Lukiri and the immediate former Chief Executive David Waroe  secured a Kshs. 3 billion loan from the Kenya Commercial Bank without the authority of the ADC.

Nairobi governor Mike Sonko excised his powers in the city by ordering the tame board of Afya Sacco to evict a tenant who has been running a casino on Afya centre.The center situated along Tom Mboya Street also houses the headquarters of the Sacco. The governor first declined to renew an operating license and then presherised the Afya Centre management let by the chairman of the Sacco Mr. Vitalis Lukiri to kick out the casino from the premises purportedly over noise pollution complains from NEMA. Mr. Lukiri has since allotted the premise to a politician from Ukambani who intends to open a restaurant. The politician used the governor to do his dirty work.

The new eatery comes up despite a long established hotel running on the ground floor which was managed by Irungu (now deceased) a former Afya Sacco chairman.
The disc jockey managed Casino gambling and betting premises was located in the basement and has been operational for 3 years apparently doing good business until the claims of noise surface.

Afya Sacco which is set to hold its 38th Annual General Delegates Meeting today the 21st April 2018 is no
stranger to controversy. The Sacco top management is under fire over gross misuse of member’s funds that has seen them take unsecured loans running into millions and failing to provide for basic requirements like housing, Medicare and education loans.
