DP RUTO’S POINT MAN ACCUSED OF RUNNING A PYRAMID SCHEME

Deputy President William Ruto’s bosom friend and also a a former executive of telecom giant Safaricom Mr Geoffrey Wandeto is at the centre of a con racket that could have swindled millions of shillings from innocent and gullible Kenyans of their hard-earned cash. 

The founder and CEO of Bidii Credit Ltd Mr Geoffrey Wandeto has been accused of running a 'pyramid scheme' in the guise of a Microfinance institution.  Apparently, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) this last week published a list of licensed Microfinance institutions licensed to operate in Kenya and Bidii Credit was not on the list. Bidii, as is popularly known, has capitalized on the credit gap occasioned by large financial institutions to venturing in the mobile credit loan portfolio.

Mr.Wandeto is said to be on the EACC radar over his Bidii Credit Microfinance which among other services offers mobile money loans in the frame of Tala or Branch, both of which have now gone under since CBK began cracking down on unlicensed mobile loan lenders. Bidii Credit Microfinance charges sh. 50 bob as facilitation fee simply to check whether one qualifies for a loan, most applicants do not qualify which means that Mr. Wandeto makes a kill by registering on Bidii Credit App.

Wandeto found himself at the centre of huge scandal on social media when he was accused of preying on young middle-class female professionals in an initiative he has dubbed as "girl child empowerment." Mr. Wandeto is positioning himself to contest as MP for Tetu Constituency in Nyeri County in the 2022 elections. He has been adversely mentioned by some women for promising high paying jobs in government and at various blue Chip companies in exchange for money or romantic friendships, allegations he denies.  He claims to be highly connected. 

But several women have now come out to express their frustration in the hands of a man who is a close ally of the Deputy President William Ruto. Five women have come out demanding their cashback as well as a public apology from him. Surprisingly, the five seem to have separately dated Wandeto at various stages perhaps with hope he would fix them jobs or facilitate them scale up the highly competitive corporate ladder.

A week ago, a lady from Tetu and residing in Nairobi named Jackie Risper took her battle with Wandeto to Facebook where she posted a WhatsApp altercation with the moneyed Politician-cum-businessman where she was demanding her 50K back. In response, Wandeto pleaded with Risper to end her anger and accept to sit down with him. In the WhatsApp conversation, Wandeto promised to repay Risper her 50K or even double up the amount. 

Known for donating huge sums of money in harambees across Tetu Constituency, Wandeto used his Facebook page to vehemently deny the allegations. But phone conversations seen by The Weekly Vision show a man pleading with his alleged accusers in private. EACC is also concerned about his big contribution in harambees where he donates as much as sh. 1m at ago. Insiders within EACC are investigating Wandeto on whether he could be cleaning money for a top politician or he's involved in an international racket of money laundering.

An alumnus of Giakanja Boys School, Wandeto recently pledged to donate a bus to the Alumni Association for onward forwarding to his Alma Mater but since then he has been dodging his fellow old boys, which is his characteristic way of operating a - talking big, giving high promises but delivering none.

Wandeto is also an elder and treasurer of the wealthy Karen PCEA Church in Nairobi whereby several women in the church have come out to accuse him of indecent behaviour. The aspiring MP's private life is as scandalous - a promiscuous man that doesn't fit the bill to become a church elder. At PCEA Karen he is known to sleep around with young university girls most notably from the nearby Catholic & Cooperative Universities. 

He was once embroiled in an explosive sex scandal with a young lady in the Karen Church married to one of his close friends. The matter was however silently resolved by Rev. Dr. Alphonse Kanga, the presiding minister at the church.
