Senior Kisii County government officials are among a group of 41 people who were arrested yesterday and placed at a quarantine facility within the county for flouting curfew rules. They were picked up from Embassy Resort and other entertainment joints in town.

They will be held for 14 days at the Kenya Medical Training College, a quarantine facility in the county, where they will also undergo tests before being charged for the offense in court.

The suspects are said to have locked themselves in a resort at Embassy area in Nyamataro, where they were enjoying drinks without observing social distancing and other stringent guidelines set by the government to curb the spread of Covid-19. Among those arrested is Maseme Machuka, Director Administration, Department of Trade, Tourism & Industry.
